Grandview Stage Entertainment Lineup – 2017
Here’s what you’ve been waiting for folks – the Grandview Stage entertainment lineup for 2017 (thus far!). And it’s going to be fun! This winter / spring is an all-star Canadian lineup of truly exceptional entertainers. We start on Friday, Jan 27 with balladeer and songwriter John Wort Hannam, from here in Alberta. Haven’t heard of John? Check him out on Youtube, we suggest “Beautiful Friend”, about his lifelong friend who contracts Lou Gehrig’s disease, or “Infantryman” (or any of a dozen more). If these don’t raise a tear, check your pulse. A lovely singer with a poet’s heart, he’s sure to please. On Thursday Feb 16 we welcome the Shari Ulrich Trio. Shari made her start in the roots of folk/rock in the early 70’s as the lead voice of the Hometown Band and has starred with UHF (with Roy “Bim” Forbes and Chilliwack’s Bill Henderson), the High Bar Gang, and many other bands as well as solo. Garnering three Juno Awards (best female vocalist), Shari is a delightful entertainer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter (as well as an actor, songwriting teacher, TV host). Her current trio includes her daughter Julia, so be ready for some wonderful family harmonies. Well known Canadian acoustic guitarist and fiddler JP Cormier makes another sojourn out west, appearing at Grandview on Monday, March 13. For years, JP toured with Merle Haggard’s band as lead guitist and fiddler. Merle said he’d play with JP “any time, any where”. A true Maritime legend from Cape Breton, JP is recognized as one of the greatest guitar pickers anywhere. Don’t miss this one. Dave Marsh, the award-winning American music critic and historian who not so long ago stated that James Keelaghan is “Canada’s finest songwriter”. Story teller and balladeer extraordinaire, James appears at Grandview Stage on Thurs, April 20. Another great show by one of Canada’s legendary best. We’ve got more lined up later in the year, but we’ll keep you in suspense! Check us out at grandviewstage.com or in the Mountaineer. Show tickets are usually $25 per show, with chef Joe’s finest plated dinner a great deal at $20. Call 403-845-6404 for reservations or get em in person at the Grandview Stage store. Supper at 6:00, shows start at 7:30 PM. Don’t forget our weekly Open Mic hosted by the versatile and talented Allen Christie every Wed night at 7 pm. No cover charge and a great time for players and visitors alike. Winning songster gets a $50 gift certificate to Irvine’s Tack and Trailer in Crossfield! Thanks to Scott Irvine and co.!! See you soon, yours in music, Del, Lesley, Joe and our great staff at the ‘Stage
